I loved reading your experience because it makes me feel “normal”! We sure have taken on many homesteading projects on the seat of our pants too (and all in the name of a “good deal”)… Our famous lines are “now we know for next time…”. Wow – lucky you to get such a deal! I’m glad everything worked out. Hopefully I will be getting chickens soon -I can’t wait! We plan to get them from a farm that raises heritage breeds, partly because I have heard that ordering chicks through the mail can be a nightmare. Thanks for sharing your experience!

there is no good answers or solutions when you cross the ditch
and enter the farm..all logic seems to disapear..but it has been fun watching both of you and the boys chaasing the dream……..you still have the love for it….

Mary – You are so welcome! Proverbs 13:10 says, “By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom.” And I would have to say that if there is any wisdom in our rookie attempts at this it is truly as a result of being well-advised by others! Praise God for Google! : )

We often tell our boys that learning other folks’ wisdom will result in a lot less heartburn than your own knowledge gained from making the same mistakes. It’s all good in the end, but we sure do appreciate your “other folks’ wisdom” being passed down. Thanks a bunch for sharing!
